A brief history of school
Mendrelgang School was initially
established in1960s. It was then known as Lamedranra Junior High School.
Unfortunately, due to the Southern problems, the school was closed down in1990.
Nevertheless, with the
re-settlement program that came as a kidu from the His Majesty the fourth Druk
Gyalpo to the landless people across the country, the population in this region
increased. The need for the school was felt necessary. Hence, the erstwhile
Lamedranra Junior High School was re-opened on 15th May 1998 as
Mendrelgang Community School.
The enrolment rate increased since
the re-opening of the school. So the school was up-graded from a community
school to community primary school and eventually to a Lower Secondary School
from the academic session 2005. It was further up-graded to a Middle Secondary
School in 2007.The school has produced its first batch of class X students in
2008. A total of 60 students appeared BCSE(X) examinations out of which 23 of
them qualified for Higher Secondary School.
Mendrelgang Middle Secondary
School is situated South-West of Tsirang Dzongkhag. It is about 22 kilometers
away from Damphu Town towards Gelephu.
The panoramic view of Mendrelgang
school located in the heart of Mendrelgang Gewog can be seen from what is
populary know as “Raksha Drangra” about 10 Km from Damphu town towards Tsirang-Gelephu
High way.
